This unit offers eithe Apple Car Play or Android Auto. Having a good audio store that also installs made this a no brainer for me. This unit was purchased for $300 with tax and I paid about $250 to have it installed (including the harness and the USB jack).

The only down fall (not really a down fall) is that the Pioner unit has an external microphone. My truck had a pretty good factory phone interface with the factory microphone and the RCA plug interface but the new Apple phones do not support RCA. This unit also has DVD and although not used much by me, it is a nice feature.

The audio is also a great improvement from the factory unit but the speakers are now the weak link. The 7" screen is way better than holding the phone by itself. But, as I drive quite a bit for work, the best part is the GPS. I do not want to change out the head unit. This unit is awesome! Now I have a complete hands free unit and can use Siri for texts and phone. I am looking to adding an 5 channel amplifier to my Sync 3 system. The installer also wired an in-dash USB connector back to the new head unit. I ended up purchasing a Pioneer double din with the Apple Car Play option. I looked at trying a SYNC upgrade, but the cost and necessary changes electronically seemed.a little much. I also have an XL and wanted some more features (hands free) from the factory in-dash unit. If you are comfortable with the install yourself you will save big bucks there, but the sound will be much improved. Look for sales on the speakers (Need 2 sets of 6x9) to do the entire truck, and sales on the headunit. With the adapter for Ford f250, I did the install myself, again about 30-45 minutes. Found on sale at best buy about $110 a pair (on set in doors, and one set on back pillars). I noticed after I installed the head unit the speakers were junk. If you order from crutchfield get the plug and play adapter with it and you can install yourself in about 30-45 minutes. It has blutooth, usb audio, cd, and is a major upgrade for about $130. Not trying to spend your money, but I'll bet the system doesn't sound too good once you change the front end.Agree with this I bought a Cheap pioneer headunit (not double Din) has storage slot under and is great for phone. Once you put in a higher-powered aftermarket unit that outputs the full audio range, the cheap Ford speakers can't handle the higher power and will show their cheapness. Ford compensates for this they roll off the output frequency response on both the high and low ends to adjust for the deficiencies in their paper cone speakers. The stock Ford radio is low power and the speakers are really cheap. FYI: You may be disappointed with the sound of stock speakers once you get the new Head Unit installed.
